Red Hot Chili Peppers – “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie”

Y’all know by now that I’m a big Chili Peppers fan.  My brother is legit obsessed with former guitarist John Frusciante.  Funnily enough, both my parents have gotten into their music recently.  “I was surprised when I heard their songs,” Dad told me recently.  “They were just so…good.”  Which is a tacit translation to, Wow, I’m surprised you guys listen to good music.

Even though I’m pumped that the Peppers are FINALLY releasing a new album after five years, I’m a little wary – I’m not sure how the new guitarist will be, and why Anthony, why do you still have your porn stache?

But tonight, NYMag.com posted their new single, “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie.”

I’m digging it.  It’s bringing back some of their earlier, funkier sound.  It’s not as catchy as some of their other singles have been, but this is a solid track.  I miss hearing Froosh’s melodic guitar playing in the background, but my brother said he approves of the new guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer – pretty big praise, coming from him.

Let’s see what the rest of the album sounds like.
